
Swedish Cinnamon Cookies (kanelkakor)
Crisp, buttery cookies flavored with cinnamon and topped with a walnut-cinnamon sugar coating — a fragrant Scandinavian treat.
Ingredients
- ⅔ cup butter
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 ½ teaspoons vanilla
- 1 ⅓ cup flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- ½ cup walnuts (chopped fine)
- 1 ½ tablespoons cinnamon (for rolling mixture)
- 2 tablespoons sugar (for rolling mixture)

Instructions

Cream butter and gradually add 1 cup sugar. Beat in vanilla and egg.

Sift flour with baking powder and 1 teaspoon cinnamon. Add to egg mixture and blend well. Chill for 30 minutes.

Preheat oven to 350°F. Combine walnuts, cinnamon, and sugar. Roll chilled dough into walnut-sized balls and coat in the sugar mixture.

Place cookies on greased and floured baking sheets about 3 inches apart. Bake about 12 minutes. Cool on racks.
