Apple Sage Bread
Fragrant quick bread with apples, raisins, walnuts, and a subtle sage finish.

all-purpose flour
(unbleached)

baking soda

teaspoon
salt

sugar

cinnamon

teaspoon
freshly grated nutmeg

teaspoon
allspice
½
cup
buttermilk

cup
applesauce

tablespoons
butter, melted

cup
raisins
½
cup
chopped walnuts

tablespoons
fresh sage, chopped
Instructions
Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease a small Bundt or loaf pan.
Whisk dry ingredients. Blend buttermilk, applesauce, and melted butter; combine with dry just to mix.
Fold in raisins, walnuts, and sage. Bake ~45 minutes or until a tester comes out clean. Cool 10 minutes in pan; turn out and cool completely.
Notes
Good with tea; the sage note blooms after eating.
